Review: Film review - Tin Cup (1996) - This golfing comedy stars Kevin Costner and Rene Russo with Don Johnson for fun.

Costner plays a down and out golf pro who, when he meets Russo, decides its time to pull himself together so that he can get the girl. Russo plays a clinical psychologist who also happens to be the girlfriend of Johnson a professional golfer and also old enemy of Costner. They meet when Russo comes to Costners driving range to learn how to play golf. Costner falls for Russo and the fun begins.

If you're not into golf this is going to be a problem, not understanding the game won't actually stop you understanding the film but I imagine it would make the film a little tiresome. Also, its too long, someone should have told the director to cut it by twenty minutes. On the upside there is some humour to be found.

The chemistry between Costner and Russo is OK but no more. Russo's better playing a slightly more dangerous female than this and doesn't really get a chance to smoulder (her specialist skill).

Don't bother if you're not into golf.
